Next Gen TV: New Bandwidth for Intelligent Transportation and Public Safety

A major new source of bandwidth for intelligent transportation is coming from – TV broadcasters! Next Generation Television, based on the all-IP ATSC 3.0 standard and approved by the FCC last November, will be the most advanced digital broadcast transmission system in the world. The Advanced Warning and Response Network (AWARN) will provide geo-targeted, rich media alerts to TV sets, smartphones, and connected cars, even if the cell network is jammed and the grid is down. Spectrum Co is a consortium of leading broadcasters that is creating infrastructure and systems to provide a range of advanced services in support of 21st century transportation systems. V2I Safety Applications System in Real World Conditions

Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) communications is the wireless exchange of critical data between vehicles and road-side infrastructure for the purpose of enabling safety applications and operational efficiencies. The V2I communication system is intended primarily for improving safety of motor vehicles, while enabling a wide range of mobility and environmental benefits. V2I applications can assist drivers in specific scenarios by providing additional information which may trigger an alert or warning for taking appropriate action. This presentation provides an overview of V2I systems, and presents real world applications including Red Light Violation Warning and Work Zone.

The Smart Mobility Stage takes place within the overall conference program at the ITS America Annual Meeting in Detroit, June 4-7, 2018. The Smart Mobility Stage will be in a prime location featured on the exhibit floor. 

This program builds off of the tremendous success of the Smart Cities Stage at the 2017 ITS World Congress in Montréal.  As intelligent transportation systems are at the center of a modernized smart mobility plan, the Smart Mobility Stage will bring together thought leaders, cutting edge visionaries, leading technology companies and manufacturers, to discuss, debate and advise on the trends and future of intelligent mobility.  Topics may cover such areas as IoT, AV, Cybersecurity, Standards, Mobility Technology platforms, Public Safety and Health, Cloud solutions, Wireless connectivity, Smart Cities, and more.
