Technical Tours

As part of the ITS America 2018 Annual Meeting, a number of Technical Tours featuring local transportation facilities and/or projects are available to registered attendees. Prices vary and space is first-come, first served. Tours can be chosen during the online registration process or on site. If you have previously registered for the conference you can log back in to add tours!

OnStar Command Center Tour

Get a deep dive into the history, development and capabilities of OnStar, the brand that started the “connected car” back in 1996. Located within Tower 400 of the Renaissance Center, the OnStar Command Center showcases how the service has evolved over the years while also providing a look behind the curtain. This tour explains how OnStar is able to provide connected services for nearly 14 million customers around the world.

Max Participation: 30 participants per tour
Requirements: Pre-registration required
Tour Meeting Location: Attendees shall meet in Tower 400 of the Renaissance Center at 10:45am for each tour and check in with the volunteer coordinator. 
Tour Length: 30 minutes
Fee: $25

Back-Stage Pass:  The Connected and Automated Environment of Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan

Tour of University of Michigan connected and automated transportation research facilities and programs, including Mcity, the Ann Arbor Connected Vehicle Test Environment, Simulator Lab, and the Michigan Traffic Lab, the traffic management center for the Mcity Test Facility. Visitors will ride in connected and automated vehicles while touring the test facility, drive in a connected vehicle in the largest real-world CV deployment, and ride in a vehicle simulator. 

Max Participation: 40 participants

Tour Meeting Location: Attendees shall meet at 1:00pm in the atrium of the Atwater Street entrance of the lower level of Cobo Hall.
Tour Length: 4 and 1/2 hours
Fee: $25
